You know, the only reason I'm writing this is that I was getting really tired of seeing the banner "Coming to a Sad Realization" pop up every time I log into Xanga.

Coming to a sad realization...

Well, it's finally happened. I have succumbed to cultural pressures. I now have a Myspace.

"Then Jesus told His disciples, 'If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life?'"
-Matthew 16: 24-26

Matthew Henry's commentary on this passage: "...he that will not deny himself the pleasures of sin (see Hebrews 11:25-26), and the advantages of this world for Christ, when it comes to the push, will never have the heart to take up the cross. 'He that cannot take up the resolution to live a saint, has a demonstration within himself, that he is never likely to die a martyr.'"

How we choose to live when life is relatively easy and comfortable will determine how we respond in times of trial and hardship.

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.

Prone to wander, Lord I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here's my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.

So...after watching OSU's horrible demise last night, I was left with one question: why is it that every single football team that I have supported this year has had some sort of dramatic, tragic collapse? I'm beginning to think that perhaps I am the real problem. And this time, I am a thorn in the side of a whole state, seeing as how the entire state of Ohio seems to be ready to crumble under the weight of our disappointment. Maybe I should never watch another football game again. Maybe I am a curse to every athletic team I care about. Maybe I should check myself into a mental institution. I don't know, it's all very perplexing.
